I was on a mileage run, less than 100 miles on a regional prop. The round trip used the same plane and crew. There was one class of service, with premier seating, and no beverage service.
Onboard and before the plane pushed back, a person in the premier seating started explaining a "mileage run" to the flight attendant. While she didn't care, the premier mileage runner was excitedly telling her how he would achieve 50,000 mile status. Another person spoke up and said he was running for 100,000 mile status. Another person and myself said we were both doing mileage runs. All people in premier seating did the round trip flight.
Flight attendants don't care about mileage runs. In general, it is better to say nothing to the crew about a mileage run, rather than potentially stir up problems. There is always someone bigger (the 100,000 miler) faster and better.
In years past I was "Premier Exec" (50,000 miles) on United Airlines. Knowing the airline mileage game, when it is not inconvenient I book a longer multi-leg trip if the price is comparable. This allows for more miles, in case I would start frequent travel again. In 2012, I made a mileage run vacation to qualify for Premier Silver. In 2013, I took mini vacations with mileage runs that totaled about 115,000 flight miles. In 2014, I am going to spend more going where I want, when I want.

United Airlines Cabin Maintenance
On a January 2015 flight to Houston IAH, the overhead bin trim was broken. Flight attendant said the maintenance request had been put in earlier in the day. This was on row 1, BusinessFirst.

For the evening meal, the selection was hamburger. There were really no other choices for United's BusinessFirst customers. The flight attendant provided an extra sugar-filled fruit pack.

Is there any wonder why United Airlines was ranked last in the 2014 Airline Scorecard?

A couple days later in United's Economy Plus seating on a 737-800, this seatback could have used a quick wipe-down to clean off the grime and dried beverage spills.
